The nominees list for a newly instituted award scheme for applications (apps) developers in Ghana has been released.

“TopApps 2012 Award”  is a scheme designed by event organizers, PopOut, to showcase the innovation of young app developers in Ghana and reward the top innovative and creative ones.

“It is the red carpet event for app developers,” a statement signed by CEO of PopOut, Maximus Ametorgoh.

TopApps was launched on April 5, 2012 by the Executive Director of Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, Madam Dorothy Gordon during the Online 2012 conference.

There are eleven categories of the award including Special Recognition Award to acknowledge individuals and organizations who are contributing to the development of the industry in Ghana.

“The nominees will present the profiles of their apps to a Panel of Judges with local market insights and global exposure to select the finalists for the highest award category – TopApp of The Year.

The  judges would score the apps based on their innovativeness, originality, creativity and local/global market value, adding that there would be a two-week online voting, which would constitute 30% of the total to square up the 70% from the Panel of Judges.

We are happy to announce that iKwery and Farmerline were nominated for the Most Innovative New App category. Farmerline was also been nominated for the best Social App category and iKwery for the best SMS App.
