Females In Mobile App Development

Females in Mobile Entrepreneurship (FiME) is a programme developed by Mobile Web Ghana to train young females in mobile applications development.

The programme will provide females with essential technical and business skills on mobile application development. It also aims inspire them to pursue a career in mobile app development by giving them a broader outlook on careers in the ecosystem and how to start their own tech companies.

A recent study by She++, a Stanford University-based community for women in technology, reports that only 12 percent of undergraduate computer science majors are female, even though it is the university’s most popular major. Ghana also scores very low on this.

In an effort to reverse this trend and make technology more attractive to females; The project will offer resources, tools, mentorship and educational workshops for females in Ghana.

MWG is excited about this programme because we believe it will be a meaningful contribution to efforts being made for a better female representation in the technology ecosystem.

This project is supported by WeTech and the Institute of International Education(IIE).
