Mentorship holds particular relevance for young girls, offering them valuable guidance and encouragement as they navigate the challenges of adolescence and chart their course into adulthood. With access to positive role models and mentors, they gain the confidence and skills needed to overcome obstacles, pursue their passions, and achieve their goals.
On Friday, February 16th, 2024, we hosted a Mentorship Session aimed at empowering young women through mentorship. Led by our Director, Florence Toffa, the Mentorship for Girls event brought together junior high school students from St. Joseph’s Anglican Basic School for a day of learning, inspiration, and growth.
The event kicked off with welcoming remarks from our Director, Florence Toffa, who emphasized the importance of mentorship in helping young women reach their full potential. Throughout the day, students participated in a series of presentations, workshops, and discussions covering topics such as leadership, confidence-building, and career exploration.
As part of the activities, students were taken through some self-affirmation exercises aimed at increasing their confidence and self-esteem. These exercises encouraged students to reflect on their strengths, talents, and aspirations, fostering a positive mindset and belief in their abilities.
One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity for students to connect with our Director as a Mentor. She shared her experiences and insights, providing valuable guidance and support to the students as they navigate their academic and personal journeys.
As the event came to a close, it was clear that the Mentorship for Girls event had made a meaningful impact on all who participated. Students left feeling inspired, empowered, and equipped with the knowledge they need to pursue their dreams.
