Information sessions are excellent ways to learn more about new schools and programs. It provides attendees opportunities to speak with professionals from diverse schools and organizations. Opportunities as great as these were presented to the participants of the Information session with Mizzou University and Millersville University. The session was organized by EducationUSA and Mobile Web Ghana and held at the American Corner, Agbogba.
UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI
Dr Mary Stegmier, the Vice Provost of International Programs for University of Missouri began her presentation by giving the participants the environmental picture of the institution with regards to its population, number of restaurants, live music, festivals and numerous amazing parks .
“YOU BELONG HERE!!! Why? Missouri University equips its students with hands-on learning, big picture thinking, Global Impact, GroundBreaking Research and Future -Ready Careers”. Our School has an 18:1 student-to faculty ratio, an average class size of 30, 1,963 Expert faculty and instructors and 12 National Academy of Sciences’’ , Dr Stegmier indicated.
She introduced the participants to the MISSOURI METHOD ( Learning by doing.That’s the Tiger way) which ranges from Research, Internships, student competitions, service learning to Entrepreneurship.
Adding to that, Dr Stegmier informed the audience about the support/resources the institution offers to its students. Namely :

- Student Health & Well-being
- Career Center
- Disability Center
MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY
In the 2022 -2023 edition of best colleges of Regional Universities North, Millersville University of Pennsylvania ranked #109 out of 181 Colleges , #142 in Top Performers on Social Mobility and #37 in Top Public Schools.
It will amaze you to know that the President of Millersville University is a Ghanaian by name Dr. Daniel A. Wubah. He is the 15th president of Millersville University. He is making Ghana proud. Under his leadership, Millersville has gained momentum and made great strides in becoming a more student-centered and values -driven organization.
It amazed all the participants of the session that Dr Daniel A. Wubah earned his B.Sc. with Honors in Botany and Dip. Ed. in education from the University of Cape Coast Ghana and earned a master’s in biology from the University Akron. Interesting Facts, Dr. Wubah the 15th president of Millersville University is a tribal king (Toapentenhene) at Breman Asikuma in the Central Region of Ghana in his private life.
The facilitator introduced the audience to the 100+ programs and related areas of study at the institution, which includes science, mathematics, technology, business ,engineering, education, social sciences and more. He added ‘’ One compelling nature of our programs is that you can combine majors in different faculties, we believe that students should not be placed in a rigid place of choosing majors within the courses in their faculty.
He emphasized that two institutions here today conducting an information session, is not a form of a competition but rather to offer the participants the power to make a choice about the institution the participants resonated with.
Q & As and Conclusion
The participants were eager to ask questions about the various programs/ tuition plans and requirements for application to Millersville and Missouri University. The spirit of unity that was demonstrated by the representatives of these two Universities was heart warming. The session was wrapped up with Q & As, networking and photo taking.
